m!M is announcing a competition for applying for a training course called “Increasing Quality of Activities Targeting Rural Youth”, which will be held in Leskovac, Serbia, from July 14 to 22, 2019.
AREA:
Activism, youth, rural areas
DESCRIPTION
The key issue within the project “Increasing the quality of activities aimed at young people from rural areas” is the lack of opportunities for personal and professional development of young people (16-30 years) who come from rural areas of partner countries. Small towns, villages or remote areas in most cases do not provide opportunities for young people. They lack access to quality activities, services or leisure information on local, regional, national or international projects open to young people. In most cases, only young people who choose to study at a university in larger cities or capitals learn about the opportunities provided by youth organizations, youth councils, parliaments, the Council of Europe or the Erasmus+ program. Young passivity, lack of self-confidence and initiative are just some of the consequences of the challenges and obstacles faced by young people in rural areas.
The training will have several parts. The first part will allow participants to exchange and reflect on the process of applying the lessons learned from the study visit in their environment. In this case, participants will identify possible obstacles and think about ideas on how to overcome them. The second do will focus on developing participants’ competencies to provide quality activities aimed at rural youth. Participants will participate in discussions, debates, simulations, role play. After that, participants will focus on developing their capacity to involve the community in their work with rural youth and to implement activities that lead to community change. The last part of the training will focus on planning capacity building activities.
This project is funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Action KA1 program. This communication reflects the views of the author only, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
