A representative of the NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro attended a two-day workshop on “Participation in decision-making processes” organized by the Union of Medical Doctors of Montenegro. The workshop was held through the online application Zoom, and the target group were all interested members from various organizations from Montenegro. The workshop was organized in order to inform about participation in the creation of public policies and their adoption.
The lecturer at the workshop was Ana Novakovic, executive director of the Center for development of non-governmental organizations. On the first day of the workshop, Novakovic spoke about the mechanisms of civic participation in decision-making processes at the national and local level, as well as the normative framework for citizen participation in decision-making. On the second day, there was talk about examples of civic participation in Montenegro, which were presented by the workshop participants.
The workshop provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the normative framework for citizen participation, as well as the mechanisms through which they can participate in policy making at the local and national level, as illustrated by examples of initiatives and other civic participation mechanisms in decision-making processes. Examples were used in the previous period in order to solve various problems and create sustainable solutions.
A manual on participatory democracy was provided for the workshop, which was prepared within the project “Government and NGOs – dialogue and then trust!”, implemented by the Center for development of non-governmental organizations with the financial support of the Ministry of public administration, published in July 2020.
