m!M marked the Day of Peace 2020

The NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro (m!M) marked the International Day of Peace, September 21, this year as well. Our volunteers from Niksic made origami in the shape of different species of birds that symbolize peace – a dove and a crane and distributed them to random passers-by on the Freedom Square in Niksic.

Citizens accepted our symbolic signs of attention with a smile and think that it is wonderful that such actions are carried out in their city. The action passed with great interest of the citizens of Niksic as well as obligatory respect for the measures adopted by the National Coordination Body.

In addition to this action, our volunteers conducted an online campaign which consisted of posting posters with quotes and messages of peace on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook account of the organization. Some of them are: “Peace is a pure heart and love”, “Peace is our strength and the solution to our problems”, “There is no way to peace, peace is the way”. In addition, we made videos in which our volunteers talked about what peace means to them. We also organized an Instagram quiz for our followers.

The action was launched with the aim of promoting peace, tolerance, love and mutual respect.

The International Day of Peace has existed since 1981, when the members of the United Nations adopted a declaration marking that day. It was first marked in 1982, on the third Thursday in September, and it was like that until 2001.
