The Center for Civic Education (CGO) organized the second meeting for partners and NGO representatives whose activities are supported by the project “Think Locally – Act Locally! – Fight against corruption on a local level.”
The meeting took place on March 31. CGO is implementing the project in collaboration with the NGO “Bonum” from Podgorica, NGO “Incubator” from Kotor, and Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN) from Podgorica, while the project itself is financed by the European Union.
Eight projects, implemented by eleven Montenegrin organizations, are supported by this program.
Mladiinfo Montenegro presented its project “Penicillin for Corruption”. Through this project, three young journalists had the task of detecting corruption in the Montenegrin health care system. They monitored health care institutions in Nikšić during February, where they investigated if employees go by their designated work hours, if they are available to patients when needed, if they treat patients fairly and equally, if they discriminate against patients, if privacy protection is established, as well as if patients’ rights are respected. At the meeting, a report about corruption in healthcare in Nikšić was presented. Publishing of five investigative stories was also announced – they will be posted on www.mladiniksica.me by April 15.
Nongovernmental organizations which are supported by the CGO project also talked about future plans and potential joint activities. A campaign against corruption will be organized as part of the project, which will involve all supported NGOs.
At the meeting, the activities which took place so far were discussed, as well as future plans: support of project realization which involves eight active projects, analysis of the implementation success through individual communicative plans, postponement reasons, future plans and individual activities, project realization, challenges and future program and financial plans.
The campaign will be realized through social media, booklets, handouts, and info stands.
