NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro representative Gordana Nikic attended the training “Media Looking Forward Camp” in Salzburg from 9 to 15 July 2018. She shared her experience with us.
“Media Looking Forward Camp is a week-long training, which was held in Salzburg where I had the opportunity to attend. The aim of the training was to bring together 45 young people from 8 countries and through a variety of workshops and lectures emphasize the importance of digitization and media in everyday life and the proper use of them. It all began on the ninth of July when all participants arrived on the same day, we presented other participants of their country and culture through music, food, drink, and language. It was a great way to get to know all of each other and build the team spirit. Already on July 10, the program was intense, but at the same time very useful because we talked about the challenges of media and freedom of the media, as well as the transition from traditional media to today’s digital media. The next day we met developers who were in Salzburg on training with the aim to create new applications useful to society. Their task was to present us their applications, compete and at the end, the jury selected 4 best applications for which they received valuable prizes, and the task for us journalists was to follow up their work, interview them, and write journalistic articles on developers and their applications. The particularly interesting part of the program for me was on July 12, when we had a lecture on media literacy, which I think is very important in today’s digitized world where it is important to know how to avoid manipulation by the media and use them and understand the right way. On Friday we interviewed developers and wrote articles, and in the evening we visited Hellbrunn castle and the magic of their special fountain, we do not want to reveal more of them, but recommend you to visit when the opportunity arises. We visited the most famous newspaper printing house in Salzburg “Salzburger Nachrichten” where we were taught on the way of printing newspapers. On Friday we interviewed developers and wrote articles, and in the evening we visited Hellbrunn castle and the magic of their special fountain, we do not want to reveal more of themselves recommend that you visit when the opportunity arises.
It was a wonderful experience. On the last day, we presented our work and then it was time to say goodbye, but I’m sure we will all keep in touch as a group to cooperate in the future and work on joint projects. I want to say to young people to be active, to travel, go to seminars, train and volunteer because it is a way to gain unforgettable experiences and meet friends for a lifetime, “said Gordana.
