NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro celebrated International Peace Day, 21 September. The action was organized at Independence Square in Podgorica from 11am to 1pm.

At the invitation of Peace One Day, NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro joined the celebration of Peace Day, which included organizations and schools from 193 United Nations members, under the slogan #PeaceDay193. As part of the action, m!M members and volunteers shared free hugs to passers-by.

The elders wrote messages of peace, while the younger ones were tasked with drawing. The action was most appealing to children who were happy to draw and share hugs. Of the elders, strangers were most interested and in the mood for hugging. Some of the messages are: “We love”, “We love peace”, “Forget the past and reconcile”, “Spread love”, “Peace is a much better solution than violence” …

International Peace Day has been in existence since 1981 when the United Nations adopted a declaration commemorating the day. It was first marked in 1982, the third Thursday in September, and so it was until 2001.

The UN General Assembly, by a special resolution in 2001, proclaimed International Peace Day – 21 September and obliged the world to think of peace on that day of the year and to mark it with various rallies, events, marches and concerts, writes style.uri.rs .

“May peace prevail on Earth, at least one day of peace and nonviolence,” reads the universal message of September 21, and all nations and nations are urged by resolution to celebrate peace and contribute to the domination of the world.
