m!M organised the second training for young journalists on investigative journalism

The NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro organized a training on topic “Investigative Journalism” from November 7th to November 9th, 2020 in Nikšić at the Hotel Jugoslavija. The training is dedicated to young people who want to become investigative journalists in the field of fight against corruption, money laundering and crime.

The training is part of the project “Raise your voice against irregularities”, which is supported the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime through the Resilience Fund. The project is being implemented from October 1st until the end of 2020.
The lecturers of the second training were journalists – researchers Marko Vešović and Vladimir Otašević from the editorial office of the daily newspaper “Dan” and the Network for Investigative Journalism – LUPA, as well as Milica Žugić, president of the NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro. They shared their research experiences through a set of lectures and workshops. The trainers taught young investigative journalists about aspects of investigative journalism, open databases, the Law on Free Access to Information, basics for writing investigative stories and types of news, as well as directed young students towards independent work in researching and writing local cases and topics in this field.
The main goal of the project is to reduce the level of crime and corruption in the municipality of Nikšić, while the goals of the training are:
– Raising the knowledge of young journalists about investigative journalism;
– Raising awareness about the irregularities in the functioning of local institutions and organizations in Nikšić.
The training was attended by a dozen young people who are studying or pursuing a career in journalism, after which, six of them will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in practice through research and writing texts in the field of corruption and crime at the local level.
