“World Energy Efficiency Day is an opportunity for citizens to learn how to achieve financial benefits and savings in households,” said representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Capital, who marked World Energy Efficiency Day in Delta City on March 5th starting at noon.
The event was opened by the General Director of the Directorate for Energy and Energy Efficiency in the Ministry of Economy, Marko Radulović and the Deputy Mayor of the Capital, Slađana Vujačić.”
In 2018, by adopting an energy efficiency program, we created a strategic framework for all those strategic activities that we have implemented below,” Vujačić said. She said that marking the Energy Efficiency Day is an opportunity for citizens to become more familiar with this way of achieving financial benefits when it comes to their households.
“At the level of local self-government, we achieve financial benefits by implementing everything possible on the subject. The most important thing is that it contributes to environmental protection, ” Vujačić said. She reminded that the capital had started reconstruction of led lighting last year and that the project was worth 4.6 million euros.
The General Director of the Directorate for Energy and Energy Efficiency at the Ministry of Economy, Marko Radulović, said that the Government’s department has been intensively working on implementing energy efficiency for 12 years and that a large number of projects have been implemented so far.”
One of the projects is cooperation with the World Bank where energy efficiency measures are implemented at health and education facilities, as well as cooperation with the German Development Bank, which has been implementing energy efficiency measures at educational institutions since 2012,” said Radulović. He recalled projects directly focused on supporting households and citizens to implement energy efficiency measures, such as Energy Wood, Montesol and Energy Efficient Home.
3.6 million euros were invested in the implementation of the project and measures were implemented in almost 1.5 thousand households through the use of interest-free loans.
Radulović also announced that the next phase of the Energy Efficient Home project will begin in May, where citizens will have the opportunity to apply for and receive interest-free loans to better equip their homes.
Representatives of these two institutions had booths that featured promotional material with recommendations on rational use of electricity. On the occasion of the event, citizens were also given energy saving light bulbs along with promotional material.
