During the International day of fight against violence against women, NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro organizes the volunteering action “Don’t suffer – report violence” on 25 November 2018 in the shopping center Delta City. The action starts at 2 p.m. with an acting performance and will last until 5 p.m.
The acting performance that will be done by m!M volunteers was created with the goal of raising the awareness with women who are victims of violence that the violence must not be suffered, but women have to be protected, and rapists punished. We also dedicate this performance to our citizens to stimulate them to engage in the fight against the violence. The latest research shows that every second woman in Montenegro was a victim of some form of violence. In the previous 12 months, every fifth woman was a victim of physical, psychological, or economic violence. The international day of fight against violence against women was proclaimed on 25 November at the first meeting of feminists of Latin America and the Caribbean held in Bogota 1981. At the meeting, women talked about the domestic violence, rapes, sexual harassments, and violence they suffered under regimes, including torture and violence against political prisoners, who were brutally murdered by the dictator Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic in 1960. The UN officially confirmed 25 November as the international day of fight against violence against women with the resolution 54/134.
