Another in the series of socially beneficial and educational activities for youth conducted by the NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro was the “Training on the Inclusion of People with Dyslexia,” which I had the opportunity to attend in June 2024 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The training was part of the Erasmus+ project “VT4Y – Visual Thinking 4 Youth” and included young participants from most Western Balkan countries, hosted by the youth NGO Bravo.

The focus of the training was the inclusion of young people with dyslexia and dysgraphia, as well as potential solutions that could contribute to better integration and facilitation of these individuals in social, professional, and family environments.

Since the group of participants had been introduced to the characteristics of dyslexia and dysgraphia during the previous training in Podgorica, the continuation in Sarajevo was oriented toward individually perceiving the complexities of the social lives of young people with these psychological disorders, particularly because they are often misunderstood as intellectual incapacity or laziness.

Given that young people with dyslexia and dysgraphia are often socially marginalized, this exciting and creative workshop, led by the esteemed Nedžma and Ismail from the Bravo organization, inspired me as a participant to focus on developing assertiveness in my future activities when working and communicating with youth affected by these challenges.

In addition to the daily activities led by our respected trainers, which allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of this critical topic, I also had the chance to hear and share various opinions and ideas with my peers from the region.

This training was an incredibly enriching and educational experience for me, as well as an opportunity to meet new young people ready and brave enough to learn and speak about many social issues.
