Annual awards from the Blood Transfusion Institute

In 2019, the Blood Transfusion Institute had around 220 voluntary blood donations which provided 18.425 liters of blood and raised conation level to 3.1% which was unattainable a few years ago. Out of this number, 8.013 units of blood were donated from voluntary non-intended blood donors as much as 43% were announced on the celebration of the Day of the Blood Transfusion and the awarding of donations for voluntary blood donations held in the building of the Blood Transfusion Institute in Podgorica.

Dr Gordana Rasovic, director of the Blood Transfusion Institute of Montenegro, pointed out that with the help of voluntary blood donors, representatives of the government sector, directors of state institutions, private companies, associations and clubs of voluntary blood donors, individuals through the organization and implementation of around 220 actions in all parts of Montenegro, they have provided 18.425 units of blood and raised blood donation levels to 3.1%. This means that they are on the way for providing sufficient safe blood for all citizens of Montenegro at all the times. Also, this is a basis of a good and quality health system in every country.

She added that by ensuring adequate transport and centralization of the processing all collected blood units, a medicine of the same quality was provided throughout the country.

The awards were given to: the company of voluntary blood donors ‘Sveti Sava’ from Niksic, company Entext, to Aleksandar Labudovic a voluntary blood donor from Berane, the municipal organization of the Red Cross Kolasin, to the club of voluntary blood donors ‘Dusan Abramovic’ from Cetinje, Montenegrin non-governmental commercial organization ‘Miholjski zbor’ from Tivat, Army of Montenegro, Secondary Vocational School ‘Ivan Uskokovic’ from Podgorica, Faculty of Maritime Studies from Kotor, to a professor Danka Markus from Secondary Electrical Engineering School, Morning program of the Television of Montenegro, company Ispos which helped in research for public opinion on Permanent Blood Duration, Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System, Electric Power Industry of Montenegro, Montenegrin Commercial Bank and to Igor Djukovic a voluntary blood donor from Niksic.
