m!M at the event “Light up the darkness of sexual violence”

The SOS Hotline for Women and Children Victims of Violence Niksic within the project “Light up the darkness of sexual violence” organized a working breakfast on the occasion of the signing of the Declaration of harmonized, ethical approach to the problem of sexual violence.
The event was attended by 20 journalists in front of different media, who have undergone training “Ethics Reporting”. Prima NGO, trained journalists and SOS phone Nikšić signed the joint declaration. 
“The idea of creating and signing of the Declaration of harmonized, ethical approach to the problem of sexual violence occurred after training for journalists in November, the meetings of the project team, in order to still do something and contribute to creating an encouraging and supportive space in the media for survivors of sexual violence, “said the organizers.

The representative of the NGO Prima, Aida Perović Ivanovic does not agree that media should inform the public about a sexual act against a child, but most journalists had the opposite opinion. They mostly said that the public should be informed about how sexual violence is now present among us and that there is a key role of the media. 

“Victims of violence are mostly people who are poor, because nobody wants come to a person who can resist to all of that”, said the Pobjeda journalist.
