The NGO Mladiinfo Montenegro organized a training on “Crime and corruption in Montenegro” from November 1st to 4th 2020 in Nikšić at the Hotel Yugoslavia. The training was dedicated to young journalists, and dealt with issues of the fight against corruption, money laundering and crime.
The training is part of the “Raise your voice against irregularities” project, which is supported by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime through the Resilience Fund. The project is being implemented from October 1st until the end of 2020.
Lecturers Mr. Vuk Maraš from the Media Association for Southeast Europe and psychologist Ms. Sanja Tesla through a set of lectures and workshops taught young journalists / researchers about ways to find information, reliability of evidence and sources, security measures to protect themselves and their identity, and basic knowledge in the field of crime and corruption, and the psychological aspects of research in these sensitive topics.
The main goal of the project is to reduce the level of crime and corruption in the municipality of Nikšić, while the goals of the training are:
– Raising the knowledge of young journalists about investigative journalism;
– Raising awareness of irregularities in the functioning of local institutions and organizations in Nikšić.
The training was attended by a dozen young people who are studying journalism or want to do it, and the same people will attend another training, after which six of them will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in practice through research and writing texts. The next training on investigative journalism will be held from November 7 to 10, 2020 in Nikšić.
