m! M at the awards ceremony at the EU Info Center

The Center for Civic Education (CCE) organized the awarding of awards for the best visual presentation of the consequences of corruption in the EU Info Center in Podgorica, within the project “Let’s Corrupt the Museum”

On that occasion, the executive director of the CCE, Daliborka Uljarević, assessed that “Montenegro has a serious problem with corruption, which is not immune to any society. An additional problem that Montenegro has lies in the inefficiency and selectivity of competent institutions when it comes to sanctioning corruption. ” She pointed to the preciousness of the view from the perspective of the engaged artists, stating that such views are not frequent in Montenegro. “Communication of the consequences of corruption through these works can greatly help us in efforts to understand as many citizens as possible the destructive consequences of corruption for the entire society in favor of individuals from the structures of power.”

Miguel Magro-Gomez, program manager at the EU Delegation to Montenegro, has been quoted as the role of anti-corruption institutions in the EU, but added: “I believe that it is crucial that we have the most diverse actors who use their knowledge and talents we would make it clear that corruption is devastating for the sustainability of society. This includes artists. So I am happy that CGO, with partners, through this project, motivated the art community to express itself on this topic. Sometimes art work can say almost as much as public policy studies, research texts or reports of corruption. ” He also emphasized the added value of this project: “The artwork will not die out through this call, but will experience a new life through a project site where it will be presented with numerous documented corruption cases.”

Djordje Gregovic, Executive Director of NGO Za Druga, partner organizations in the project, said that art and corruption are remote concepts. “But we live in Montenegro with a high level of corruption in society. We are aware of the fact that art represents the transmission of thoughts, but the transfer of thoughts by giving new information, a new experience. All the papers received were more or less successful. The response was remarkable, and through all these works came the energy of society, the energy and potential of what is brought about by independent, independent, artistic and completely free thinking. “

Nikoleta Ćorović, the first participant, said she applied for the contest motivated by her personal interest in addressing the phenomenon of corruption. “I wanted to show my understanding of corruption. Corruption as a part of the show for broad popular masses, masks that fit everyone and behind which is a real face and the power a person can have and that is just a part of an image that is not motivating for the young and not be hopeful for a better tomorrow. It means a lot to me for the reward I received today because it appreciates my great work and effort, and I am very grateful for it. “

Dimitrije Benic, the second-placed participant, said: “I would like to primarily thank you for the opportunity to express my view of the existence of corruption in our country by practicing my freedom of speech through art and turning my criticism into action. I am also honored that in this way I have the opportunity to present my works to a wider auditorium. I am grateful for the award that will motivate me even more. “
